Fine Weather brings out the Flyers
At last we have had a good day and a few of us made the most of it and got some good flying in today - here are a few photos from today and a little earlier in the month .
There were a couple of new Wot 4 XL's which took to the air - one with a very strange but strikingly visible color scheme - even more Wot 4's are reportedly due on the field soon. What is the term for a collection of Wot's ???? All suggestions gratefully received.
Historic Photo to Share
The attached photo was taken in 1979 when Hanno Pretner (extreme right) and his father (extreme left) came to fly and in Ireland. They were met and chaperoned throughout their visit by this motley crew as well as many others. For those who do not recognise the name of Hanno Pretner he was, perhaps the greatest ,World Champion F3A pilot. An honor he held for many years and was truly a brilliant flyer and a very nice person too. The other people in this photo are Fred, Harry, Joe, and Shay - can you recognise any of them?
Great memory and delighted to be able to share it with you all
Improving Weather gets us flying again
The weather has settled down a little and this has filled some of us with the bug to take to the air once again. Olly has even started to delicately cut the once grass again. Lets hope the weather continues to improve and we can all get back to the field. Here are a selection of photos from the last week or so.
Lake activity
Very little activity on the field. The continuing wet weather has prevented any flying but some of our members are busy on the lake.
Along with the boats here are a few photos from the distant past - some nice planes and a very young modeler with the late Johnny Carroll - any idea who he is or indeed what aircraft he was flying- A jaffa cake in the Club House on Saturday for anyone who gets it right!
